20,000 Surgical Masks Recover by Karachi Police; Arrest 4 Suspects
“Karachi police on Monday arrested four suspects and recovered an enormous cache of surgical masks, which were apparently hoarded to be sold on higher prices amid the coronavirus outbreak scare within the country”.
According to the police, the protective equipment was recovered from the city’s Kharadar area.
20,000 Surgical Masks:
Police said that quite 20,000 masks were recovered from the suspects. this case has been registered against the hoarders.
On Saturday, Sindh Rangers administered a raid within the Gulshan-e-Iqbal locality in Karachi and recovered quite 70,000 surgical masks. The raid came each day after the Supreme Court ordered the govt to clamp down on hoarders.
Price of surgical masks skyrocketed in Karachi last week, after two cases of corona virus were confirmed within the country. Currently, there are four people under treatment for the corona virus.
According to reports, masks had either disappeared from the medical stores. And sold at exorbitant prices across the metropolis.
Meanwhile, the planet Health Organization has expressed satisfaction.over the measures taken by the county’s health authorities so as to prevent the spread of the virus.
Dr Palitha Mahipala:
“I am impressed by the swift and diligent way, the govt has handled the crisis thus far,” WHO’s Pakistan representative Dr Palitha Mahipala said.
Karachi schools face strict action for remaining open despite closure orders .He added the health organization was committed to supporting the country every step of the way.
Mahipala added that the COVID-19 outbreak was a public health emergency of international concern and every one country neighboring Pakistan like Iran, Afghanistan, China and India had registered a minimum of one confirmed case of the virus.
